LaBronze Garrett is originally from Marshall, Texas. His mother is a survivor of an abusive relationship which nearly cost her her life. Before LaBronze was born, his mother was shot in the head. Doctors gave her a slim chance of survival and even told LaBronze’s grandmother that should her daughter survive, she would not live a normal functioning life, let alone have kids. But with rehabilitation and prayer, his mother pulled through and was left partially paralyzed. She even built up the courage to date again and became pregnant. Doctors suggested she abort the pregnancy because they believed her pregnancy would be too difficult because of her disabilities.
When she refused, her doctors thought LaBronze would be born with all types of birth defects, but amazingly he was born perfectly healthy. He was called a “miracle baby” and his mother named him LaBronze, which means desirable and precious.
LaBronze graduated from Tatum High School in Tatum, Texas. He played several sports including football, basketball, and baseball. He also received full-ride track scholarship. LaBronze graduated from junior college and then enrolled at the University of Georgia where he won a collegiate national championship in the 400 meter hurdles. After graduating from UGA, he realized that he could compete on a professional level and started his professional track career in 2003. After only one year in the professional circuit, he made the 2004 Indoor World Championship team which was held in Budapest, Hungary. He was also an alternate on the USA outdoor Olympic team in 2004, then returned to the trials in 2008 and 2012.
LaBronze traveled to over 70 countries as a professional track athlete In 2009, he decided to start his own business as a personal trainer. His company, Power Elite Performance, focuses on corporate wellness and athletic development. More specifically, he implements and conducts wellness programs for companies. He also trains athletes of all ages prepares them for high school sports and beyond.
LaBronze is also a Celebrity Personal Trainer and has worked with the casts of Oprah Winfrey’s television shows Greenleaf and Queen Sugar as well as NBC’s Game of Silence and AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Overall, LaBronze became a trainer because he wanted to show people that we all have the power to change our lives for the better. If his mother believed her doctors when they told her she would never again function normally or even walk again, LaBronze wouldn’t even exist. This is why he inspires all of his clients to never let anyone tell them what they can and can not do. It’s your decision to make and you’re in control of your own destiny. Power Elite Performance would love to help you get to your overall fitness goals as an individual, athlete, or as a company. “If you always put a limit on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” – Bruce Lee
